College Tours

Young Scholars is a program to broaden horizons. We want students to see beyond their own neighbor, city and state. Therefore, we offer a variety of college tours.

Our oldest and most successful tour, is the Freedom Quest/Historically Black College Tour. This is not just a tour, but a walk through history. Seniors and Juniors visit a minimum of 15 colleges and universities, and have the chance to explore their history, by visiting a plantation, underground railroad sites, Civil Rights Museums, and many other interesting places.

Students attend six classes prior to going on the tour to learn their history and to become acquainted with the chaperons and other tour participants. Once we begin the tour, we aren't just individuals sharing a common experience, but a family.
