W.I.S.E is a mentoring program to empower young women to be free, strong, and independent. High school girls are invited to be young Women, Intelligent, Strong, and Empowered for success. Each girl has a mentor who works with her to complete all of the tasks to qualify to participate in the Rites of Passage Activity. The goal is to build the young women's self-esteem and to empower them to be all they can be and strive to fulfill their fullest potential.
“Young Scholars has introduced me to the FAFSA, which is something that is not broadcasted like it should be in my school. The Young Scholars Program has prepared me to deal with deadlines and the consequences that come when you don't abide by them. Most importantly Young Scholars has showed me that dressing to impress is always the best and preparing us now to dress nice will definitely benefit us in the future.”
-Milan Martin, WISE girl
"To me being a WISE girl means being the best that you can be at all times. As a WISE girl I try my best to be a good example and a positive role model for the people around me. A wise girl also never misses the opportunity to be fabulous. Being in YSP has helped me to learn how to take responsibility for my actions. YSP has also taught how to better interact with my peers and learn how to network with different people that may be beneficial to my future. Being a part of this program has also helped me to prepare for college by teaching me not to procrastinate and to get things done ahead of time so you are not stressed at the last minute."
-Kasani Bell, WISE girl
